Biography

Mehdi Farajpour: born in 1980 in iran.
After learning pantomime from sirus shamlu, he started theatre professionaly and seriously with him. then he learned the modern dance under supervisin of ms.pope and ms. skye reynolds. being previously familiar with yoga, he took yoga instructors course under supervision of yoga different styles masters such as borzou ghaderi, homayoun hatam, and movahhedi. he also used master maya machoveh s instructions in his university thesis. later, he got familiar with parvin hadiniya- the swiss ballerina of iranian origin- and hold the common workshop of yoga and modern dance in tehran, the outcomes of this knowing each other and experience were collected in an interriew.
In 2002 ,he established yoga dance theatre group (Orian theatre) with the gool of study and research on concentration forms(spiritually and physically)of actors in which "Ascwitz"dance theatre become the performance basis for these theoies, and practices were stopped after three months.membership requirement of this group is familiarization with three subjects of theatre, dance and yoga, but not with common definitions.
At the present time, main activities are in two fields of yoga training (for actors and absolute yoga classes),and acting.
He constantly and continuously taught in acting higher education school under supervision of dariush arjmand since 2003, and also he taugh body units 1 and 2 in theatre department of islamic azad university for some period of time. since then, he has been teaching subject of physical concentration, non-movement, and body understanding, together with atila pesyani in city theatre workshop to the actors of workshop.
After that, Mehdi founded experimental workshop of performance at higher education school in 2005. He constituted some workshops and short courses of yoga and bodily concentration for performers and then he performed two performance art projects in Tehran in 2006.
One of his performances called – sudalaiyadi – was invited from international theatre and dance festival India in Jan 2007 .he   went to India and performed his performance at that festival .the performance was very successful between Indian people and managers .
Seven doors dance company invited him to middle-east theatre festival to participate at a dance project as a dancer in March 2007, but he could not to get to that festival. after that, he has been invited to cooperative in a film project as an actor to Scotland, Edinburgh in may 2007.
On June 2007 he went to Poland to perform a spectacle called “my name`s peace. I`m coming from Asia …” at 7th international street theatre festival, opole. Also he did a workshop about bodily concentration at the festival.
He repertory “Suddalaiyadi” in 11st international theatre festival india, cuttuck on October 2007.
After coming back from Cuttuck, India, he lead a workshop about “physical performances” with some youth people in Tehran and prepared it to perform as an outdoor show called “burning circle” based on Rumi`s poems.
Mehdi is left to live and work in India as a theatre director In the end days of 2007. He made again the dance_theatre called”Suddalaiyadi” with Indian traditional dancers. After that he took the performance for performing in a great international theatre festival in Tehran called”Fadjr” and he won the best music award for the performance.
On April 2008, he participated at two butoh educational courses leading by katsura kan japanease celebrated butoh dancer and teacher, also Mrs yumi fujitani in paris. Also, he improvised a contemporary dance performance with katsura kan in   R -de -choc, paris at the same time. After leaving paris conducting a workshop at 9th international blacksea theatre festival based in Trabzon, turkey May 2008, was next project of Mehdi in his international activities. Making a Video-dance project called “Yellow chair” in “Maharashtra culture centre” located in Pune, India was the other contribution of Mehdi in Indian artistic areas.
On june 2008, 8th International street theatre festival based in opole, Poland hosted Mehdi in order to perform a solo butoh performance called “Confession”. Also, he conducted a workshop with some participants from Italy, Poland, Finland and makde a performance with the students called “Immortal Iceland”.
