Mehdi FARAJPOUR
Is a theatre graduated artist who is now considered as a conceptual performing artist. His main activities are divided in two categories: Creations and Teachings. Besides his creation for the stage, he is also firmly focused on teaching his creative way of dance called “Meditative dance”.
Mehdi’s artistic career covers different fields such as Literature, Poetry, Dance, Butoh, Photography, Video, Music and Theatre.
In 2002, he launched Oriantheatre Company in Tehran. Then he promoted the company on international stages. Now Oriantheatre Company is based in France but it has still its members in different countries. The compamy’s primary target was to study on physical acting and also the power of concentration both mentally & physically. But it s late target became studying on quality of presence on the stage (both for dancers/actors). “The Monk performers” is the title of Mehdi’s book which is released in 2008. This book is the conclusion of his personal/practical experiences on the stage.
Since years ago he has been regularly collaborating with international dance-theatre companies and festivals around the world.
In 2008, Collaborating with Indian Bharatanatyam dancers could bring him the best prize for modern choreography and creative music from 26th International theatre festival of Iran. End of 2008, he got a grant from “Hooyong performing Arts center” to creat a play in south Korea in frame of Artist in residence program. In 2009, brought him another grant for creation matter from Poland. The Grant was tilted “Orient and Europe”. In 2010, He was chosen and invited as a jury member of international theatre festival in Minsk, Belarus. Summer of 2011, he got awarded “The best direction” prize for his performance BECKETT.
The countries where he has been mostly presented are India, Poland, Iran, South Korea, France, Turkey, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Belarus, Croatia & Finland.
